We practice Creation-focused stewardship when raising our animals for reproduction & meat. Our animals are family raised, ethically harvested, loved & cared for during their lives on this wonderful earth. We are teaching our children how to practice responsible animal husbandry, entrepreneurial skills, creativity, marketing, & generosity through our homesteading endeavors.
We do not believe in introducing unnecessary chemicals or products that can interfere in the quality of life of our animals, nor do we want unnatural products being passed to our family or consumers at the time of harvest. We do not vaccinate, we use non-gmo or organic products & feed products while growing out and sustaining our animals.
We believe in providing a nutritious source of meat & eggs for our family & love to share the abundance of what we produce with others! While we make our surplus available for public purchase, we also encourage bartering. So if you have something to offer for one of our offerings, feel free to offer a barter as well!
When searching for a dual purpose breed of cattle to raise for milk & meat, Dexters became a no-brainer for us. Their smaller stature, docile natures, exceptional milk production & high quality meat has been such a reward in building our herd. Unbeknownst to me at the time, Dexters are actually TRI-PURPOSE. They have a knack for being used as draft animals as well!
We've had a fun time learning about each of our Dexters' personalities over the last couple years. We offer calves for sale at six months of age. We milk our cows & make fresh raw yogurt, butter, ice cream, & cheeses. The meat from Dexters has a shorter muscle fiber, so beef is more tender, & has a melt-in-your-mouth consistency. I've heard butchers compare Dexter meat to that of Wagyu, but without the inflated price!
Our Dexters are friendly, social, & easy to manage. They're winter hardy, & easy calvers. We take calves to the Potlatch Farmer's Market in the summer to halter train, practice loading & transporting in trailers, & are handled by kids to socialize. Did we mention? They're absolutely ADORABLE!
We have Rauri, our bull, & Sersha & Diedra, our mamas. Clover & Finn are calves produced in 2024 that we are keeping for our own production. Sersha calved again in spring 2025 to a bull calf that will be available for sale at 6 months of age. We will also consider selling Sersha & calf as a pair for $3500.
We love our Idaho Pasture Pigs! IPPs are a grazing pig; gentle on the ground & don't root like other breeds. They're a medium-sized pig that hangs at about 200-220 lbs. IPPs produce rich red, sweet meat that is packed with flavor. Our pigs are social, gentle, & easy farrowers. As winter hardy & easy keepers, we produce IPPs even through the winter.
We have four sows; Dutchess, Empress, Lady, & Baroness. Our little man, Baron, is taking his reproduction duties very seriously! We just received a litter of 11 in April 2025 from Baron & Lady.
We have three fun goats at Brasherhaus Farms! Our Nigerian Dwarf goats are Daisy & Sage. We also have Iris, our NDG Lamancha dam.
We use our goats for milking. We make yogurt, labneh, ice cream, & cheese. Our milk is also used for our own raw milk consumption, & used as a milk substitute for our other baby animals if they need supplemental feedings.
We sell our kids to people that want companion goats, milkers, & pets. Our goats & kids are gentle, well-socialized, & handled regularly. We currently have two NDG bucklings available for new addresses!
